 POST-CARE INSTRUCTIONS FOR PICOSURE TREATMENT

Proper aftercare is crucial for healing and best results:

1. Immediately After Treatment:

  • Expect redness, swelling, and a sunburn-like sensation for a few hours to 1–2 days.

  • You may also notice frosting, pinpoint bleeding, or temporary darkening of pigment.

  • Apply cold compresses and soothing gels (e.g., aloe vera or Aquaphor) as recommended.

  • Avoid Hot Showers and Baths: Avoid taking hot showers and baths for the first 24-48 hours after treatment, as hot water can irritate the skin. Additionally, cleanse with a mild, non-abrasive cleanser and avoid harsh soaps, or rough washcloths.

  • Avoid Strenuous Exercise: Avoid strenuous exercise or anything that causes excessive sweating for at least 24-48 hours after treatment or until the affected area is closed, dry and comfortable, as sweat can irritate the skin. This includes avoiding saunas and steam rooms.

2. Skin Care Routine:

  • Wash hands before touching the treated area.

  • Cleanse gently with a mild, non-abrasive cleanser.Clean area daily with mild soap and water and pat dry.

  • After cleansing and while skin is still moist, apply a thin layer of Aquaphor ointment to the treated tattoo.

  • Apply moisturizer regularly to keep skin hydrated.

  • Avoid picking, scratching, or rubbing the treated area—this can cause scarring or other potential complications such as unwanted pigmentation changes.

  • Use broad-spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen daily and avoid sun exposure for at least 4 weeks.

3. Makeup & Products:

  • You can typically resume makeup use after 24–48 hours, unless otherwise directed.

  • Avoid active ingredients for a minimum 7 days-like retinoids, acids, or scrubs until the skin is fully healed.

4. Healing Timeline:

  • For tattoos: colors may appear cloudy or faded before breaking down and lightening over weeks.

  • Healing may take 1–2 weeks depending on the intensity and area treated.

  • If blistering occurs, keep the area moist by applying Aquaphor 3 times per day or Antibiotic ointment per recommendation of the physician. Do not enter swimming pools or hot tubs until treated areas are healed.

  • Itching and scabbing is normal. Scabbing may last 7-14 days. DO NOT PICK, PEEL, OR SCRATCH the treated area as it could cause scarring or changes of the natural skin color. Removing the scab will increase healing time. If located in a high friction area, keep covered and do not shave until completely healed.

  • If itchiness develops and is irritating, you may apply a Benadryl cream after the first week of treatment and cover area. * DO NOT USE CORTISONE CREAM

  • Until you are fully healed, avoid contact sports or any other activity that could cause injury of the treated area swimming, soaking or using hot tubs/whirlpools until the skin heals
